Hypnosis Explained

The Science of Hypnosis

Using scientifically proven techniques, our purpose at Results Therapy is to resolve emotional blocks, reform good habits and create long-lasting, effective change.

According to the American Health magazine and leading hypnotherapist Alfred Barrios (PhD), the client success rate after six hypnotherapy sessions is 93%, compared to 38% success rate of 600 sessions of psychoanalysis. In studies available online, there is evidence that efficacy of hypnotherapy on managing weightloss (Barabasz, 2007; Roslim et al., 2020), reducing anxiety (Valentine, K. E., et al., 2019) and more, echoed by Time magazine in their exploration.

Hypnotherapy is a completely safe, natural phenomenon. It is simply a form of very deep mental relaxation but has a specific intention.  You remain totally safe, secure and in control whilst in Hypnosis.  Once the subconscious mind is able to absorb information, suggestion and other content, this brings about the therapeutic change.

Hypnotherapy can support you to become mentally healthier and happier.

No. vivify-me is not therapy or medical treatment.

The work supports emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and personal performance. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace medical or mental health care.

If you are experiencing significant mental health concerns, it’s important to seek support from a qualified medical or mental health professional.

For safety reasons, hypnosis sessions should not be listened to while driving or operating machinery.

Please ask in advance if you’d like to record a session.

If you’re looking for something you can return to and replay, there are options designed specifically for that.

Yes. Most people remember the session clearly — similar to leaving a very relaxed conversation, aware of what was said, but feeling noticeably calmer and less mentally noisy.

Most people experience hypnosis as a state of focused attention and deep relaxation. You remain aware, in control, and able to think and speak throughout.

Hypnosis isn’t about being “put under” or losing control. It’s a way of working with the subconscious mind while you’re fully present.

If you can focus, imagine, or get absorbed in a book or film, you can experience hypnosis.

Program Information

Getting started is straightforward.  Begin with a conversation to explore whether vivify-me is the right fit for you.  There's no pressure and no obligation - just space to talk through waht's going on and what kind of support would be most useful to you.

Values insights show what actually drives you — how you make decisions, what drains you, what motivates you, and why certain situations keep creating tension or second-guessing.

When you don’t understand your values, you can end up forcing choices that look sensible on the outside but feel wrong internally. That’s often when overthinking, frustration, and self-doubt kick in.

Values insights give you a clear internal reference point. You can see why some paths energise you and others exhaust you, why certain compromises keep costing you, and where you’re pushing against yourself instead of working with who you are.

The vivify-me program is best suited to women in midlife who are navigating change — whether that’s children leaving home, relationship shifts or endings, grief, career changes, or a growing sense that life no longer fits the way it once did.

Many women who come to the program are outwardly functioning well, but internally dealing with persistent self-doubt, emotional overload, overthinking, or a feeling of being pulled off course.

It’s often a place where women who have tried other approaches with limited or disappointing results find real tangible results.

Midlife transitions often trigger subconscious emotional responses that drive self-doubt, overthinking, emotional reactivity, and self-sabotage — even when you consciously want to move forward.

Hypnotherapy works by changing those subconscious responses directly. In the vivify-me program, we use hypnosis to release stored emotional reactions and interrupt the patterns that keep replaying automatically.

When those patterns shift, women commonly experience quieter mental loops, fewer emotional spikes, improved sleep, and a stronger sense of internal control during periods of change — without needing to analyse or “work on” themselves.

vivify-me exists to support women in midlife as life shifts — when things that once made sense no longer quite fit, and the inner noise starts to get louder.

Through a blend of hypnosis and personal values insights, vivify-me helps create emotional space, quiet self-doubt, and reconnect you with what genuinely matters to you now.

The purpose isn’t to reinvent you or push you into change.

It’s to help you move through transitions with more clarity, self-trust, and confidence — so the next chapter of your life feels aligned, grounded, and fully yours.

Results Therapy

This program is a six week online journey designed to give you a full reset of energy, goals, and purpose when undergoing significant change. It is delivered as 1-1 90 minute sessions, using hypnotherapy tools and techniques, providing education and coaching on personal values (what makes us tick).

This can range from how to tackle your fear or heights or fear of failure, or shift your mind from a phobia to being free of worry. Hypnosis techniques work with you to subconsciously shift to feel great positive change where you can safely have the mindset to do it anyway.

Hypnosis guides your mind to convert the voice in your head to believe and know that you are good enough, you are loved, and whatever anyone has told you in the past should only be there to serve your best self (which is you all along)’.

There are so many ways to try to be the “perfect” shape or size when perfect doesn’t exist. Hypnosis can show you how to love the skin you are in and help you achieve your weightless goals in one.

Mental health is just as important as our physical health, and a lot of cases where we feel anxious, stressed, depressed is when there is a lot of uncertainty, ambiguity and potentially loneliness. Hypnosis can support and reframe our emotions, create space to build or confidence and overcome our anxious thoughts and stress responses.

General

Most insurance companies will not cover the cost of Hypnotherapy sessions however It is always worth checking as some companies have flexible benefits packages that include an amount of ‘discretionary spend’.

As a member of the Association of Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists (ARCH) in Canada, using such a spend account is made possible.

The core difference between hypnotherapy and other methods is depth and speed. Using hypnotherapy techniques like relaxation, guided imagery, and the trance state, therapists are able to access the subconscious more quickly than traditional methods. Traditional methods may take weeks, months, or years to uncover the subconscious reasons behind issues that are manifesting in clients. With hypnotherapy, these reasons can be found in as little as one session.

While hypnosis and hypnotherapy are in the same “family,” they are very different from each other. The core difference is that hypnotherapy is an internationally-recognized therapy technique for treating mental and psychosomatic issues. It uses hypnosis to break through to the subconscious to better understand the foundation of the issues a client is facing.

Hypnotherapy uses the hypnotic trance as a method for accessing the subconscious. Accessing the subconscious allows therapists to better understand the core reasons that someone’s issues may be manifesting.

Think of the therapist as an emotional baggage handler. Helping you assess what you need to carry with you in the future and what to let go and leave behind. Hypnotherapy provides the pathway to tunnelling directly into the subconscious.

Hypnotherapy can treat everything from helping people stop smoking (smoking cessation), weight loss, depression, anxiety, pain relief, self-esteem issues, physical healing, trauma, bad habits and phobias in addition to many other issues.

In fact, you might be hard pressed to discover something that hypnosis WON’T be able to treat.

The subconscious mind is where we store everything that has ever happened in our lives. Therefore, it is much more efficient to do therapy while in the subconscious state, using hypnotherapy to access these moments in our lives that have impacted us. This results in greater awareness around one’s issues. With this awareness comes the ability to recognize the cause of behaviours that one desires to change.

Yes, hypnotherapy works. Professional organizations have consistently reported on the value of hypnotherapy. The British Medical Association has been formally studying and verifying it since 1892.

Both the British Medical Association and the American Medical Association have confirmed the efficacy of hypnotherapy as official policy.

Hypnotherapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, obesity, habits, fears and phobias and countless other issues

The hypnotic trance state creates a deep sense of relaxation and allows the client to let go. During this process, the hypnotherapist is able to uncover subconscious motivations, access repressed memories, perform regression therapy, and/or use the power of suggestion to “re-map” the mind’s responses to stimuli.

Many people think of hypnosis as inducing sleep. That’s actually not the case. Hypnotherapy induces the “trance state.” It is actually a natural state of mind that many of us encounter in everyday life on a regular basis. If you’ve ever been engrossed in a book, movie, or performance, then you have likely experienced the trance state.

The only thing that distinguishes a naturally occurring trance state from the hypnotic trance state is that hypnotherapists induce the latter and are able to control the trance state to create understanding and healing.

Hypnotherapy is the practice of psychotherapy with a client who is in the hypnotic altered state of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to access the source of distress, like depression and anxiety, and for people to reconnect with dissociated emotions and disowned parts of themselves. Hypnotherapy helps therapists and clients get closer to the source of a client’s issues by opening the doorway to their subconscious mind.
